Veterans Project at NYU Medical Center

Dear Veterans:

My name is Amanda Cooney and I am the research coordinator for the Post Traumatic Stress Research Program at the NYU Medical Center. We are a group of scientists, psychologists, physicians, and biostatisticians. The PTSD Research Program is currently conducting a study to learn about the biology of PTSD in OEF/OIF Veterans.

In our study, we are working with service members from Iraq and Afghanistan who have and do not have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD). The purpose of our study is to develop better treatments and diagnosis methods for PTSD. We intend to do this by examining the factors that contribute to the development and resilience against PTSD.

This brief study only requires 8-10 hours of each participant’s time. Participants will be reimbursed up to $450 for their participation.

Active duty service members and veterans can help us to develop a better understanding of how PTSD needs to be treated and diagnosed. In addition, they can earn $450.

If you would like, I can come by your organization with informational pamphlets about the study. This is an ongoing study strictly for veteran community.

We are working to spread the word about this large project, and as a provider for veterans through the Veterans Association of America, Inc. thought your organization may be able to help.

Thank you for your time and I greatly appreciate your support for this project. You or your veteran constituents can contact me by phone at 646-754-2304 or email at
